We assembled in the Gareus hotel in Valladolid last night – some having flown into Madrid and been brought on the coach with Tim, others having made their own way taking in some of Spain’s many sights. As usual some nice momente remembering other tours we’d been on together, and of course welcoming the people who were new to Tim’s tours. Tim gave a very brief introduction, we drank a glass of Verdejo and then it was off to El Trigo restaurant.
Tim has been bringing people to El Trigo since 2012, since when it has gained a Michelin Star. This was a spectacular dinner, of seven courses, which I won’t attempt to catalogue, but I took a picture of each of them (my pudding shot wouldn’t upload unfortunately) and they were all delicious. We ran the gamut of vegetables, seafood and meat, everything was gloriously fresh and delicious. With a very good rosado from Cigales, and a local red Tinto del Pais from 2011 which was showing some real evolution.
We thanked Victor (he chef) and Noemi (front of house), the husband and wife team who own the restaurant and had made our evening very special.
For Spain we had eaten relatively early and Valladolid was busy as we walked back to the hotel.
