Our tour to Castilla y León has commenced

It is great to be back in Valladolid for the start of our Spanish tour encompassing Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Toro and Cigales. The BA flights were all early and we arrived at the elegant Gareus hotel in good time. After a quick glass of Verdejo in the bar, we headed out to Trigo restaurant. I have been dining here since 2012 and husband and wife team – Victor and Noemi – have now acquired a Michelin star for their brilliant and innovative cuisine. What really sets this establishment apart is how relaxed the service, the amazing quality and value for money and just how impossible it would be to recreate the dishes at home.

A dazzling array of little starters came and went, a clever rice and mushroom creation, fish and dessert – it was amazing and all washed down with some cracking Verdejo and Ribera del Duero.
