I have just returned from my reconnaissance trip to North East Italy feeling utterly stunned by the beauty of the scenery, the quality of the wines, the exquisite food and the customary, legendary warmth of the Italians.
We will be staying in the quite spectacular and historic town of Bassano del Grappa. Based in a hotel literally two minutes from the old town, there are fabulous views of the Alps, some wonderful history to savour and as the name suggests, an opportunity to get to know Grappa better in your free time.
We will discover Prosecco in such a way that will change your perspective and enjoy a super lunch overlooking the vineyards near Valdobbiadene.
We also journey to close to the Slovenia border and savour some quite majestic whites including some sublime Pinot Grigio and some seriously good reds.
The area of Lison-Pramaggiore will open your eyes to a lesser known but extremely high quality set of wines.
This was the first time I have been to this part of Italy and once again I was astonished but not surprisd by the diversity and originality that Italy displays from region to region, the fierce pride that the locals have and the genuine warmth and hospitality that prevails.
We have places left on our 26 – 30 June tour only. April is now full.
