Our tour has started.
Rather more time in Porto airport than would be preferred thanks to some rather dodgy finger print readers, but we were all able to assemble in the hotel lobby in time to walk to the Almeja Restaurant for a really amazing first night dinner.
The seven moments menu gave us a series of small dishes each delicious and innovative that applied top culinary techniques to top Portugese produce from land and sea. Portugal’s Asian connections shone through with coconut infusions and a beautifully delicate curry ice cream to finish.
Wine (fizz from Bairrada, Alvarinho from Vino Verde and a spicy Douro blend) and conversation flowed, we are well prepared to embark on our first full day in the morning.
