Our first Sicily tour has begun and with the Gatwick flight on time, we were ahead of schedule for lunch!
From Catania it was a short drive to the hotel Faraglioni – beautifully situated right on the coast in a town called Aci Castello and with great views out to sea gazing at the eponymous faraglioni dei Ciclopi: small rocky formations rising out of the sea..
A super lunch ensued with aubergine melanzane, a delicious risotto, a perfectly grilled piece of fish and dessert – all washed down with an excellent Grillo and Nero d’Avola. From Aci Castello it was an hour south to our hotel in Siracusa where a relaxed free evening awaited.
