New Zealand Wine Adventure – Tour 3 commences

A great start to tour 3. Dinner was held once again at the outstanding MINT restaurant in Napier – just a short hop from the excellent Nautilus hotel that overlooks the Pacific ocean.

Ruth and Stephen Beere are the owners of MINT with Ruth front of house and Stephen in the kitchen.

Highlights were the Prawns in Crayfish bisque followed by the 14 hour braised lamb shoulder or the orange and star anise duck confit.

Whatever you had – presentation and quality were superb.

The piece de resistance dessert was the dark chocolate cylinder – an incredible creation that combined rich, dark chocolate, summer fruit jelly and crème fraiche. We washed it all down with Elephant Hill Sauvignon Blanc and the 2010 and 2007 vintages of Tironui – a fine little estate situated near the picturesque Cape Kidnappers.
