Germany – a day at Schloss Vollrads

More Schloss Vollrads The historic Schloss Vollrads was our destination for Thursday. This amazing castle is steeped in history – tracing back its family origins over 27 generations. Winemaking has been recorded here since 1174. We were hosted by the very knowledgeable Walter who took us on a tour of some of the beautiful rooms of the Schloss – and as you might expect – a different wine was awaiting us in each different location. Having tasted our way through a Dry Riesling, Kabinett Riesling and a SpatleLunch at Schloss Vollradsse Riesling, we decided to spend the rest of the afternoon over lunch.

It is spargel or asparagus season at the moment so it seemed appropriate to enjoy four deferent courses with asparagus at the heart of three of them. It was a beautiful afternoon, sunny and warm and lunch was quite superb set in this fabulous historic setting.
