We assembled at our hotel in Sonoma on Sunday afternoon,and kicked off with dinner at the OSO restaurant in Sonoma. A very nice modern tapas style restaurant overlooking the famous Plaza. Pinot Gris and Grenache were our chosen wines and they washed down an eclectic selection of small plates exceedingly well.
An action packed tour is in store as we explore the subtleties and nuances of the different valleys and districts. We are strategically placed in the pretty town of Sonoma, which gives us good access to Napa, Sonoma Coast, Russian River, Anderson Valley….the list goes on.
It is of course impossible to do justice to California in one trip – it produces 85% of America’s wine which makes it the 6th biggest wine producer in the world!
The aim is to discover more than just Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. We will be taking in fizz, fortified wines, Italian and Rhone varietals and a number of surprises are sure to emerge.
