We have returned to Portugal for the second Alentejo tour of the year. A prompt start at Lisbon airport saw us on the coach and en route to the Setúbal peninsula, spirits undimmed by the decidedly British weather.
In Azeitao we had lunch at the Wine Corner in Azeitāo. This occupies the ‘Corner House’ of the original home of JM Fonseca’s winemaker and is part of the JM Fonseca family . With our lunch of prawns, tuna, steak and egg roulade (a sort of Portugese custard tart disguised as a roly poly pudding, which was very nice) we had some fresh zingy dry Moscatel, the very smooth Perequita Reserva (a Setúbal blend of Castelāo, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Francesa) and finally both the 10 Year Old and 20 Year Old Alambre Moscatel de Setúbal, both of which were delicious.

An hour’s coach drive got us to Évora, where we were quickly installed in the hotel, with an evening of exploration of the pretty town ahead of us.
