We had a leisurely start to Sunday which gave everyone the chance to fully enjoy the beautiful Patios de Cafayate hotel, take a swim or enjoy the gardens, or for some – engage in some additional tasting practice at the next door Esteco winery. The other option was to wander into the town of Cafayate and witness at first hand the aftermath of Serenata Cafayate – a legendary local musical festival celebrating its 50th Anniversary.

Our visit to day was to Finca Las Nubes – a small, family owned estate with yet more stunning views. We were hosted by winemaker Luis and our amazing guide Diego assisted with translation and eminently conveyed the humour of Luis. They only make 80,000 bottles a year so this was a huge contrast to the 8 million of Esteco yesterday. We tasted through a selection of their wines, including dry and sweet Torrontes and a mix of Malbecs and Malbec blends.

From the tasting it was out into the garden and a delightfully relaxed lunch encompassing empanadas, various meats and salads and desserts.

The eating and drinking was not over for the day. A small three course dinner with Esteco wines was just about managed by most as we enjoyed our last night in Cafayate.
