Our second tour to Greece has commenced and despite all the last minute flight changes, we arrived in the beautiful town of Nafplio in plenty of time for dinner.
Nafplio is a perfect location to explore some of the key wine regions of the Peloponnese. It is a lively town, popular with tourists but retaining its ancient charm and historic significance as a second capital of the First Hellenic Republic. Plus it has the benefit of being a historic port with some delightful coastal walks and an abundance of waterside bars.
A very casual dinner was held at Arapakos restaurant which was the perfect start. Greek salad, aubergine rolls, moussaka, fennel pie and baklava – all washed down with some delicious Moschofilero and Agiorgitiko – our first insight into these excellent indigenous grape varieties.
