After our big day yesterday, everyone benefitted from a nice leisurely start this morning as we headed east to the borders of Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi. The wonderful family estate of Fèlsina was our destination, situated in the pretty village of Castelnuovo Berardenga. Having visited this estate on quite a few occasions I knew what to expect: a wonderful warm welcome, great food and a top class array of wines.
Victor hosted our group and delivered an informative and humorous tour with lots of great information about the history and philosophy of the estate. Originally an old hunting lodge, the estate was bought in 1966 and serious viticulture began. Fèlsina were the first estate to make 100% Sangiovese Chianti – a tradition they still maintain.

The wines were served with lunch – a deliciously fresh farro and vegetables starter was followed by a superb ragu pasta and a mousse dessert. All washed down with a terrfic selection of wines culminating in the Fontalloro 2013 in magnum.

A top visit!
