South America 2024 tours kick off in Montevideo

Our South America tours started on Saturday 17th Februray, and we are in Uruguay for the first leg!  Having checked into our hotel, the first event was a glass of fizz on the rooftop bar before heading out to dinner.

A short walk took us to the highly regarded Tandory restaurant. Chef Gabriel has developed a top reputation for his delicious cuisine utilising local ingredients and combining many of the gastronomic influences that make Uruguayan dining so varied. Empanadas, baked cheese, prawns and mushrooms started us off and then we had a choice of main courses. Wonderful beef and fish was order of the day and we rounded off the meal with a super dessert. All washed down with an Albariño from Bodega Garzon who we visit on Wednesday and a Merlot from Bodega Bouza – another estate we will visit. A great start to the tour.
