Piedmont Wine and Gastronomy Long Weekend Highlights
- Based in Alba, famous for its cuisine and of course truffles.
- Visits to wineries in Barbaresco and Barolo and Asti.
- The chance to meet the owners and winemakers, and experience their dedication to wine quality.
- Comprehensive tastings at every visit, including older vintages.
- Three fabulous gastronomic lunches or dinners – matching the best of the region’s cuisine with the best of its wine.
Friday 2nd November
Our Meeting Point is Milan airport (See Flight Transfers below). Seizing the day, we will head straight from the airport to Strevi.
Here we find the Marenco family estate – my all-time favourite producer. We will be welcomed by the family, taken for a stroll through the vineyards and then enjoy the most fabulous lunch in their picturesque farmhouse. Transfer to hotel in Alba. Dinner at leisure.
Saturday 3rd November
We devote Saturday to Barolo – the most famous of Italian wines. On the agenda will be top estates such as Massolino, GD Vajra and Contero. Through a series of top level tastings we will explore and understand the intricacies of the Barolo terroir and taste a stunning range of wines.
We have a light tasting lunch and then head out for an extremely elegant gastronomic dinner in the evening.
Sunday 4th November
After leaving our hotel, we round off the weekend with a superb tasting lunch en route to Milan, featuring top class wines to the north east of Alba. This will give us a focus on some lesser known but extremely high quality areas that lie outside the main stream.
Note: the Itinerary may be changed at Tim Syrad Wine Tours discretion so as to facilitate the smooth running of the tour and to accommodate great opportunities for visits or tastings that may become available.
Pricing will be confirmed shortly

More about what to expect from my Piedmont Wine and Gastronomy Long Weekend
This will be the sixth tour I have run to Piedmont, and every time I visit I fall more in love with the place, and it’s my mission to ensure that everyone who comes with me experiences the warmth of welcome of everyone we meet, the passion and enthusiasm of the winemakers, and the glorious combination of wine and food that makes this region so special.
Our three gourmet lunches or dinners will allow us to explore Piedmontese cuisine at its best – its relatively cooler climate has ensured this is different to the classical Mediterranean fayre of much of the rest of Italy, featuring dishes such as bagna cauda (crudités dipped in an anchovy sauce), agnolotti (a special sort of ravioli), fritto misto (a deep fried selection of local produce which could be meat, vegetable or fruit) and vitello tonnato (veal in a tuna sauce).
More about Tim Syrad Wine Tours
Since 1997 I have escorted over 90 groups of people on tours to wine regions in Europe and the New World. My clients keep coming back year after year because in addition to tastings and visits we really do meet the people who make the wine and tend the vines.
I personally escort all my tours, and I ensure as much as possible of the money my clients pay is spent on great food and wine, and good hotels.
For more information about me, my next tours, and previous tours I have run, and to find out what my clients say (some of whom have been coming on tour with me since 2001) please explore the website.
